Modesto is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Modesto is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I brought my vintage Marantz 2265B to Stereo Advisor after purchasing it on Facebook Marketplace. The receiver had two known issues when I bought it: the left phono input channel did not work, and the FM tuner was nonfunctional. After researching repair shops that specialize in vintage audio equipment, Stereo Advisor seemed highly recommended, so I drove about two hours each way from Fresno to have the unit serviced. When I dropped the receiver off, I explained the issues in detail and specifically requested a full diagnostic and repair evaluation. I also clearly explained that I work night shift in an ICU and asked to be contacted by email or text only so I would not be woken up during the daytime between shifts. Despite providing both my email and phone number on the intake form, I still received phone calls during the middle of the day while sleeping. A few days later, I was told that several capacitors, relays, and power board components needed replacement, that the FM tuner required repair, and that additional diagnostic work would be needed on the RCA/phono section. I was quoted roughly $500β$600 total including the initial $100 deposit, which I approved. About two weeks l

If you enjoy vintage stereo equipment and respect someoneβs craft, Luis is absolutely the person to bring it to. Iβve taken multiple pieces to Luis over the years, and every one of them came back in fantastic condition. Iβve never had any issues coordinating drop-offs or pickups. And yes, I also miss his downtown Sacramento location β but if you truly want your gear restored the right way, heβs well worth the trip to Modesto. Heβs very clear about scheduling: call ahead to make an appointment for drop-off or pickup. Thatβs not unreasonable β thatβs respecting his time and expertise. And if you expect someone with decades of specialized experience to diagnose your equipment for free, youβre not living in reality. On top of that, Luis is simply fun to talk to. Heβs passionate about music and the gear that brings it to life. When I mentioned I had a Marantz 2285B I wanted recapped, his eyes lit up and he smiled immediately. He did an incredible job β it looks beautiful and sounds even better. Thank you, Luis, for your hard work and dedication to keeping these classics alive.

Luis did an excellent job helping us get our family's 1960's RCA console back in good shape! He is very communicative throughout the process and got the job done fast. He has a clear passion for these vintage pieces of equipment. I even emailed him with a question a few months later and he responded with his expertise. I highly recommend him to anyone!

Louis repaired a vintage receiver that my Father left to me when he passed away. I have a lot of great memories of my teenage years that music played a big part. Christmas, New Years, birthdays....The receiver stopped working a short time after I set it up in 2008. I kept it, thinking I would get it repaired. 15+ years later, and a Google search brought me to Louis, THE STEREOADVISOR. The repaired receiver sounds better than I remembered, and is once again, a beautiful looking, and sounding member of my family. THANK YOU LOUIS!!!! Your Fantastic job will be loved and cherished for a long time. Take your vintage gear to Louis, at STEREOADVISOR. Awesome job on the vintage Technics Direct Drive Turntable I brought in after the Sansui Receiver. It looks brand new! It sounds even better. Luis is a true artist in the repair of vintage gear!!!!! Many thanks Luis.
